ABOUT US ::  LOCATIONS

Before we were gardeners, we were farmers. We still run an active sheep farm alongside the greenhouse. Come out and meet the gang, including:

Pepsi

Pepsi, our donkey is 14 years old. He mainly eats grass, hay and grain, but loves to be fed snacks including carrots and dry bread.  Pepsi lives outside all year. He loves the winter and only uses the shelter on the coldest of nights. In the summer his hair is very short, but he grows a long, thick coat in the winter. Donkeys are often used on farms to protect sheep from coyotes.

Kai

The llama's name is Kai. She is two years old. Llamas originate from South America and are a member of the camel family. Their wool is used to make high quality sweaters, socks and other clothing. A young llama is called a “Cria”.

Maurice

Meet the newest addition to our animal family. A new friend for Kai, Maurice is a 10 month old brown and white spotted llama.

The Sheep

Our sheep live outside all year, eating grass, grain and hay.  Like the donkey, they only seek shelter on the coldest and stormiest of nights in the winter. On our farm, lambs are born in the spring. Many of our ewes (female sheep) have twins or triplets. A new-born lamb weighs approximately 5-7 pounds. They start to eat grass and grain at about three weeks of age. Before that, they only drink milk from their mothers. We shear the sheep once a year in the summer and use their wool to make blankets.

The Ducks

In our special “chicken coop” we have roosters, hens, ducks and bunnies. The ducks, Disco and Diva, are“Crested White” ducks are look like they have ‘pom-poms’ on their heads. They are the ‘rulers of the roost’ and love to boss the rest of the ducks and chickens around. The smaller ducks are “Dwarf Mallards.” Ducks lay eggs in the spring.

The Chickens

The rooster and hens are from the Bantam breed of chickens. The hens lay one egg every day.   The ducks and chickens mainly eat grain but also like fresh grass.  Our ducks and chickens live in the greenhouse during the winter.

The Bunnies

Joining the rest of the crew in the chicken coop are the bunnies. There are currently three of them.  They're very friendly and love to receive treats.
